Father’s Day for the Cool Guys

As fate would have it, I found myself in Tampa last week to visit my fathead (yes, I call my dad fathead. No you cannot use the name). In case you've been living in a cave, let me fill you in. My stepdad, Steve, has been battling Cystic Fibrosis since 1999 and let me tell you... he's the strongest person I know. Every father's day I struggle with getting him a gift because he either has everything he needs or doesn't ask for what he really wants! The ultimate #COOLGUY. This year, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Harry's [...]

Weekend Trips: Viansa Sonoma Winery

I had a chance to visit Viansa Sonoma last month and had a blast hanging with the girls, drinking and taking photos. The property sits right up against Sonoma creek and the views are incredible. It was so sweet for Viansa Sonoma to invite us and cater to us for the day. We had a picnic in the courtyard and took in the views on their hilltop (that overlooks the property booming with pretty vines). I have yet to meet a winery I didn't like. LOL! I included our trip in my recent vlog below, too. Check it out and [...]

Style 78: Shade + Light

I'm trying something a little different with my blog posts lately. I've been testing my design and editing skills. Getting weird. Editing and cropping differently. To be honest, I am so over the stand there and pose methods of old-school blogging that I've been doing for years. I'd pick a cute outfit, find a nice background, go stand in front of it, shoot, edit the photos and throw a pretty filter on it, beg people to come back, repeat. YAWN, someone please put me outta my misery! LOLZ. (Remember when we used to use "z" at the end of lol? [...]

Maybelline ColorSensational Shaping Lip Liner Swatches + Review

Annnnnnnnd we're back with another makeup product swatch and review! I always love trying out Maybelline products because I feel like having knowledge about high and low priced makeup products makes for a very knowledgable makeup expert (winks). I raved about the 24k nudes eye shadow palette because it really was the first eye shadow kit that really changed my mind about drug store makeup. Maybelline hooked me up (sent me) with the entire ColorSensational shaping lip liner collection and I'm happy to share swatches and my review with you. At first glance, they're definitely a step up from the [...]

Flower Eyewear: Why I’m Glad I Wear Glasses

I started wearing contacts before I started wearing glasses. Weird right? I started wearing contacts when I turned 10. I remember going into Walmart with my mom for my vision test and sure as shit, I needed glasses (badly). The glasses that I wanted (which were pink of course) wouldn't be in until another 2 1/2 weeks and I just couldn't wait another second. So, off I went with my contact lens trial, walking into walls and blinking like crazy trying to get used to seeing clearly. I didn't realize how much I would end up liking glasses until the [...]

Femme Fair: What a Little #GRLPWR Can Do

Getting to finally blog about this event that I've been keeping relatively secret is beyond exciting! Femme Fair is an event thrown by SF Bay Area bloggers and local artisans to come together and celebrate Women's history month, while also sharing to a great cause! It started as this idea that Stacey had about having a "blogger garage sale" sometime last year and while chatting it up with Christina (in our usual blogger group chat), that idea turned into a full-blown female empowerment event with 7 local bloggers and a ton of amazing sponsors and vendors overnight. That little idea [...]

10 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Wedding Costs

So the big day is approaching and you're getting ready to reduce your wedding costs? Well, I'm here to hold your hand and coach you through all of the mistakes and financial epiphanies I had while planning our wedding. So, before we start hacking away at all of your new-found savings, I'm going to fill you in on a little info. Everything I'm about to fill you in on is completely (and 100%) my own opinion. I made decisions and had to cut back on things for our wedding because I, personally, didn't feel we needed it or felt it [...]

MELSANV MADE: The Julie and Alma Handbag

This post today hits so close to home because without these women I would quite literally not be here today. With all of the insane love and support this week, I wanted to end the week with an introduction to two women that I hold so close to my heart. Meet the Alma handbag! Alma is the name of my abuelita (grandmother). She's tiny, gentle, has a beautiful heart and helped my mom raise four kids. My abuela was the kind of women who always had a plan. She knew what time my abuelo was getting home and would time [...]

MELSANV MADE: The Chloe and Nikol Handbag

So far, you've had the chance to meet Ileana, Amy and Jazmin, and now Chloe and Nikol! Two amazing and head-strong women I feel like I've know my entire life. Let's jump into their stories! Meet The Chloe handbag. She's the loudest in the bunch. You can see her from a mile away and something about her presence makes you feel happy. I met Chloe sometime in 2009ish, back when the name Chloe was cool before it was cool. We were coworkers at the time and it only took a few meetings for us to hit it off instantly. She [...]

MELSANV MADE: The Amy and Jazmin Handbag

I'm so excited to share 2 more handbags with you today! Each bag has her own story and I've been worked up all week hoping that I do my girls justice. They're both so special to me and I hope you love them! Leave me a comment and let me know which handbag fits your personality best. Meet the Amy handbag! Amy is my cousin and I grew up with her - we were even baby roommates when our parents lived together at one point. This girl was by my side on my wedding day and she's seen every little [...]
