Recently, I found myself in a deep funk that I just couldn’t get rid of. It leeched itself onto my day-to-day interactions and really lowered my spirits for awhile. I think that we often forget it’s normal to go through different moods at crazy times and for entirely different reasons.
As you start to grow and learn about yourself, you’ll find that the universe does these kinds of things for a reason. Whether you’re meant to feel a certain way, which then leads you to reconnect with a friend you’ve lost touch with. Or maybe it pushed you to get back into painting, singing, whatever it is that connects you… to you! You know, that ‘ah-ha’ moment you feel when everything you went through suddenly makes sense and you’re not so mad at the world for sucking sometimes.
Well not long after I started feeling like that, I found myself rummaging through Barnes and Nobles one day in the self-help section. I’m sure at one point I thought “People for sure think I’m crazy. People are definitely starring at me.” Because we sometimes don’t want to admit that we need help.. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, whatever.
It wasn’t until I came across a book called “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero. I was so deep into thought reading the first pages that I hadn’t realized I’d been standing there almost an hour! And then it hit me… The book is exactly what I’d needed. It ripped me from the aura I’d let control my life and suddenly gave me a different perspective on things I would’ve normally brushed off.
From this book I’ve learned that it’s all about tuning into yourself. Fully letting go of the world and locking with your intuition, completely engaged in whatever it is you want to accomplish in life. Your goals. Your dreams. That sick ass Mercedes Benz you’ve pictured in your driveway all your life. YOU are the only one stopping you from getting it. If you wake up every, single day and say “this is going to suck”… Well, yes it is. We get so lost in work, social media, connections, gossip, tv, ads, life in general that we forget what we were put here to do… And that’s live an awesome life!
One of my goals when starting this blog was to connect with people in ways I’m not able to on day-to-day interactions. I’m not perfect and often need help getting through… Well, life really. I find myself in these situations a lot actually. And it’s OKAY. There is nothing wrong with wanting to help to better your outlook on life. I want to share a story or piece of advice, help with styling for a date you’ve waited to go on your entire life. To somehow be apart of someone’s life and not even know it. And if even one person reads this and is moved to inspire the world just a little, then my job here is done! So, go… Start today and have an amazing life. -M
