Life Update: I’m home

Phew! It's been a whirlwind of events lately! The month of May was a complete blur to me, as I had a month-long stint of work in New York that I simply could not bail on. Having so much time to reflect on my own, living in a hotel and out of a suit case, was good for me and my soul. I found that it allowed me to clarify some things I'd been unsure about (internally) and I'd like to shed some light on those topics. As this blog evolves, I feel it's important that I become less guarded [...]

Spotify Playlist: VIBE

Hi beauties! It's been a crazy ass week and I'm fully on board to just winding down and taking a nap today - but we have work to do and you know I'm a sucker for a great playlist to keep me going and motivated. I've been listening to this playlist non-stop. Some new artists and some great ones I've been following for some time. I'm getting into the swing of making these playlists on the regular. I find peace and balance when I'm in tune with music. Are any of these artists your fave? If you're still on the [...]

Before the Aisle: Luminess Air / Airbrush Makeup Review

I'll admit, airbrush makeup always sounded intimidating to me until I tried it. Until I had the chance to work with Luminess Air, I had zero idea about how to apply airbrush makeup, what it felt like or what to expect. So let's jump into this review and I'll give you the scoop on airbrush makeup and the Luminess Air Legend System. If you want more detailed information on how to apply airbrush makeup using the Luminess Air, I love this video from Beauty by Sara. So, with only 6 months away to wedding time, it's a no-brainer that I'm [...]

Nikol Elaine Beauty Editorial / Bohemian Dreams

And just like that, a beauty collaboration is born! If you're a long-time MELSANV.COM follower, you're no stranger to Nikol Elaine's makeup artistry. Nikol is an amazing friend and her passion really fueled this entire project. After scarfing down eggs, toast and coffee at brunch one day, Nikol and I started talking about different beauty looks and all of these amazing ideas began to rush into my head. Some time ago, I did creative direction for a Florida-based marketing company and left to pursue my dreams in SF. Although, that fire in my heart for making things come to life, [...]

Style 73: #itsbanana

Is it Summer yet? Even after being here for two years, I am still a Floridian after all! We've been having some interesting weather here in the East Bay. From rainy and cold to dry and hot, my skin and my outfits have endured enough! Maybe you're already prepped for Summer with your colorful outfits and gladiator sandals just itching to be worn. For me, my heart beats for my dark clothing and I spend a good majority of my time meshing light with dark even during the highest of temps. Which is why I love this stark white Italian [...]

Before the Aisle: Should I Get Lash Extensions?

As I embark down this fluffy and white, Pinterest saturated path of wedding bliss, it feels very normal to get easily sucked into doing things "most brides do." You know, those traditions that are tucked away in the bride bible along with spray tans, laser hair removal and the plethora of other things brides do before getting hitched? Well, I decided to open up a little column here to talk about said traditions. I'll fill you in on all things waxed, sprayed, polished, gelled, curled and plucked! You, in turn, come back here and report on anything you've tried and [...]

Style 72: A Tribute to Jogon

I've been dreading this post because it forces me to face a reality that I simply am not ready to face. And things are about to get a little sentimental up in here so grab a tissue. I might've mentioned that not too long ago our great friend, my homie, and cool kid on the block, Jose Miguel Gonzalez, Jr. passed away on February 26, 2016. I was in the Dominican Republic looking at a wedding venue with my parents and I didn't get the news until the next day. My heart beat so fast and I just sat on [...]

Style 71

It's a new month and a brand new Monday, babes! Between wedding planning and starting a new career chapter, my favorite moments to be creative come from styling an outfit. I've worked in a corporate world for some time now and I love the challenge in finding an outfit that fits me both personally and professionally. So when Who What Wear released a clothing collaboration at Target I nearly fell off my chair. 1. because I love them and 2. because I love when Target gets a helping hand from fashion designers or style experts. This skirt needs ZERO introduction! [...]

Style 70: #itsbanana

As my Spring love affair continues on, I'm sharing another look in collaboration with Banana Republic! I love that statement neck scarves are stepping into the lime light. If you're an OG MELSANV reader you may remember this neck scarf from this post or even this one. It's definitely an oldie/goodie situation. And when I found that it needed a little contrast I paired it with this ruffled pullover sweater which basically tells you everything you need to know about me in one article of clothing. The ruffles! The knit! The cropped waistline! Everything about this piece screams me and [...]

Style 69: #itsbanana

Today I'm bringing back a style post to highlight a brand that I feel has really evolved over time. If you're no stranger to the Gap brands then you know Banana Republic recently upped their spring wardrobe game to include brighter colors, bold prints and beautiful fabrics. As someone who is always cold (always), I very much appreciate their new metallic colored sweaters because hello, cold and also because transitioning into Spring when it's still 50 degrees out can be quite the challenge. I recently got a new job and I somehow found myself stumbling out of BR with a [...]
